The Secret

Ok, I might be behind on reading The Secret, but that's because I wasn't ready for it.  For two years now, I've invested in personal development books, videos, audio, and classes.  All of them have a different way of explaining the same things on how to have a fulfilling life.  The Secret is no different.  It was very refreshing to hear another way of how to achieve the things I want in life.  If you are looking for personal development resources, I would recommend these materials to start out.

This week, I will be getting ready for the Cow Palace dog show in Daly City.  I'm so excited!!!  Ready to be in the ring with my two beautiful Shiba Inu.  So if your in town to see the show, come swing by the Shiba Inu booth.  Kiyo will be relax at home while Kuma and Kyuubi are interacting with the public.

Getting Back Up

Not much to write for this week.  Been busy putting myself back together and falling backwards.  Starting this week I will start walking forward again.

I'm also starting to get ready for the Cow Palace show coming up in 2 weeks from yesterday.  It's going to be a fun show this year!

By the way, I'm not sure if I introduced you to our newest member, Tin Win the cat.  He came to me from work during the summer as a young kitten.  Tin Win became sick, so I took him in so he could recover.  Little did I know that Kyuubi and Kuma became close friends with him that I couldn't separate them.  He's now about 9mo. old and a handsome boy who stays in the backyard, sleeps with the dogs, and eats everything you give him to eat.  I love him very much.  He's a cool cat.

Preparing for the New Year

I hope everyone had a great New Years.  I know mine was bitter sweet since Kuma and Kyuubi are still at Palm Springs.  My friends told me that they both did well in the show but no wins....  Oh well there is always the next show.  I've already plotted out the shows that I will be attending to up until July.  Maybe we will have better luck at those shows.

While those two are at the show, I decided to bring over two puppies from work to the house.  My hubby-to-be wasn't very please when he found out, but he got over it.  These 6wk old Lab mixes needed some socialization with people.  Plus there wasn't much room for them at the shelter so it helped us out a bit.  They were great to have.  Tomorrow I will return them to the shelter so they have exposure to possible new families for them.  I wish these two well.

Today I was really busy on working on my goal setting notebook!  I'm so excited to have it completed and ready to go for the year.  This is also my to do list for the week.  I followed the method of a person I met this past summer.  It really does work if you take the time to do it.  This year I added picture that inspires me and gets me motivated on what I'm trying to achieve.  If you are interested in making your own, here's the link: http://eatyourcakeandcountyourchickens.com/2013/12/31/operation-goal-set-2014/ .  I highly recommend you try it out for a year and see how you like it.  Here's a picture of my goal notebook (Sorry about the lighting on the book. Its getting late.... ^-^;).

New Possibilities

Kuma received another win at the next show after the first win!  It was amazing to have a back to back wins like that!  He's half way from becoming a champion!  I'm so excited!  But till then, summer time is the down time.  Kuma blew his coat and looks pretty skinny.  It's part of nature and happens.  He's liking the down time though.  But we'll be ready for Nationals this year!

Kiyo is having some ups and downs.  She's having some behavior issues that I need to solve.  It's becoming a problem and we need to change in order to make it a better place.  Other then that, she's sleeping most of the day and her coat right now is just wonderful.  Too bad I didn't see this coming or I would be showing her right now.  Oh well, lesson learn.

I would like to announce that we have a new addition to the family!  Her name is Kyuubi!  A friend of mine had asked if I was interested in one of her puppies.  My fiancĂ© (yes I'm also engage too lol) was interested in having his own shiba since I mainly took over Kiyo and Kuma.  So we went over to her house almost every weekend since they were 4wks old and we singled one out that was absolutely perfect for our kennel.  She so adorable and looks so much like her mother, but has the Japanese attitude and hunting instincts that we are looking for.  Plus, she has a very nice coat that we desperately need!!!  We love her so much.  I see great things for her.

While all this has been going and from my last post, I've learned a lot about possibilities.  I recently took a self improvement class that open my eyes and heart to things I've never thought possible.  In the past, I would always analyze everything for way to long and didn't take action, I didn't see what was really possible.  When I first started this blog, it was a huge jump for me, I didn't see it as a new possibility of what I can do for myself and to others.  Now I see this blog as my first stepping stone to express myself and be me.  No one else can do that for me.  This is a place I can share to others of my experiences of my life and by sharing, can help someone else to make a leap of fate of what they believe.  The possibilities are limitless, and if you fail, get right back up and fine a new possibility.

The dogs have been trying to teach me that this whole time, but I was not listening and did my own in the box way.  That's not going to work.  You need to think outside of the box and listen to others feedback.  The feedback is there to help, not bring you down, and it takes time too.  LOTS of time in some cases.  I'm still learning, but I've become more open to it and a better listener too.

Four Months Non-Stop Training and Shows

I began my externship to become a certified dog trainer.  I was so excited!  Been busy working at class and volunteer work to improve my skills and help dogs in need of a home.  Been loving it.  At times it has been challenging, but with the help of my family and friends, I'm more motivate to get through the challenges.  I've learn so much on the field and also has driven me to look in deeper about dogs.  My methods are always revolving and learning new ways to build relationships and leadership with dogs.  It has been an amazing journey so far and can't wait to see where it will take me!  Kiyo has been my companion and teacher since the beginning, so I had to get her involve with my journey to learn together.  I take her to class to practice obedience with her and strengthen our bond.  Wish I had pictures of our work....

Kuma has grow so much since November.  He's now taller than Kiyo and weighs about 25lbs!  A big boy!!!  More than anyone thought he would be.  But so handsome!  We started showing him the beginning of January and haven't stop since.  Anytime we have a chance to put him in a show, he is in it.  It's been crazy!!!  Both Kuma and I are enjoying our time in the ring and meeting friends and new people and dogs every show.  This past show, we finally won and got some points on him!!!  We were so excited!!!  It was a great day.  \( ^ . ^ )/

Back to the Shows and more

I got some talking to do.  LOL. Here are some needed puppy fix pictures.

It was a crazy time caring for all them and going to work.  Too tired to write (^-^;), but they were all fun....  Miss the little girls....  You can view all the pictures I have of this litter on my flickr page.  Here's the link.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/renae_pics/sets/72157630620299284/

Now its just Kiyo, Kuma, and me.

There's my little boy, Kuma!

We've been working hard on training and getting ready for his first show in January.  He's a big boy.  He's only 5 months now, he's as tall as Kiyo and weighs 15.4 lbs.  Fun little guy, alway doing something and enjoying life.  He's a pleaser.  I see great things in Kuma's future.

Kiyo will be back in the ring starting next weekend, so I'll try to have some pictures of the show.  We are going all out now.

Back in January I started an online class to become a certified dog trainer through Animal Behavior College.  I'm now about to start my externship and volunteer work and then get certified.  I can't wait!  I have learned a lot, have found my own learning methods through this and ready to start my own dog training business.

I also been working on a new blog all about dogs and what I've learned from my experiences, as well as my kennel website.  My new blog is called BTru Dogs.  http://btrudogs.wordpress.com  My kennel website is http://genseikennel.com

A lot of stuff going on, but I be checking in more often and give more updates.

Big News!!!!

Well I've been gone long enough from here.  Been very busy with incredible stuff.  March 24 Kiyo and I attended to her last show.  It was sad to be showing her for the last time since we were getting better at it, but it was time for Kiyo and my next journey in this dog show world.

The next day I went to the show again only to drop off Kiyo to a handler.  Kiyo was heading to Southern California to her breeder to be bred!  I'm very excited about it as well as my family and friends.  Kiyo stayed there for a month and a half.  She was bred to a handsome male (name of the male will come later) on June 29th to May 1st.  Kiyo came home May 4th.

This is the male we bred Kiyo with.  Love his looks and color. Picture taken by Brittnee Munsch.

She is now 3wks into the pregnancy and two days ago we have confirmed her pregnancy.  So far from ultrasound we can see two puppies and a possible 3rd!  Two of them have homes already, one will stay here with me.  It's a very exciting and interesting thing.  Kiyo has been a lot of first for me.  First dog I've owned, first purebred, first female, first shiba, first unaltered dog, first show dog, and now first litter.

Right now I'm in the process choosing a kennel name.  Once I have that I be busy creating the site, email, business card, contract, and web cam(^-^ so excited for the web cam!).  So far everything is prepared for the big day.  Once I have everything set, I'll post the links to them.

I'll will keep everyone posted on this exciting event.  Wish everyone of us luck, especially mommy Kiyo!

Dog Show Fun and Lessons

Well have a little break from everything today, so might as well do a much needed post.  ^-^  I've been on and off with work and dog shows during the weekends, and school work in between everything.  Today I'm preparing to leave for LA tonight for the Beikoku Shiba Inu Aikokai(BSA) show tomorrow!  I'm so excited to be going this year!  Sadly though I won't be able to show Kiyo in this show because she is not a NIPPO registered dog.  She will just be coming for the exposure.  On the up side, I might be showing a Shiba for a breeder that has a couple of Shiba entered in the show!  I've never been or practice in this type of handling, but I'll do my best.  I've been watching a lot of videos and articles on how to handle the dog in a NIPPO show.  Hopefully this will help me.  My boyfriend and I will be taking pictures, so I'll post them up when I get back(and after class.... -_-;).

Well we've gone to quiet a few shows that have been in the area and to Indio dog show where I meet up with Kiyo's breeder.  That went well.  I had fun showing Kiyo, but the atmosphere there with all the other breeder/handlers was uncomfortable to me.  They kind of kept to themselves a bit and only talked to those they knew well.  They just seemed like they were out for themselves.

Kiyo's breeder did help me out with Kiyo about how she grooms her Shiba, and mention that Kiyo needed some weight.  I did notice that she was a little under but not too much.  Well a month and a half after the show, Kiyo had lost 2lbs and had been vomiting and had diarrhea.  Well it turns out that the grooming products that the breed used and recommended me to use(which I did and followed direction) had been causing it.  Kiyo would groomer herself and would be taking in the grooming products that way.  My vet and I help Kiyo get back to normal and I have made changes to her feeding regiment after suggested by the owner of Kiyo's sire.  I'll go more into details about that later.  So now I'm trying to decided to continue using it in more dilute dose or go all natural with brushing and using a hair blow drier like I was doing before.  From what I've seen in pictures of NIPPO Shiba, what I've read about coat care for Shiba, and what people other then Kiyo's breeder, is to go natural.  Shiba coats have natural oils that protect the coat and give it it's look.  If you bath your Shiba too much, you will strip the coat of those oils. If I continue using the grooming product, that means I would have to bathe her after every show.  I'm going to have to do some experimenting....

Ok back to the feeding regiment, the owner of Kiyo's sire is another breeder that lives not to far from me.  She had very high quality Shiba in her kennel.  The show that we met up at, her 6mth old female took 2nd place overall in breed, and it was the pup first show to boot!  So what she told me, I really paid attention.  She suggested putting Kiyo on a raw diet and to help put extra weight is to feed her Satin Balls.  To help build her coat she suggested a recipe called Growing Hair on the Doorknob(GHDK).  Their are so many different recipes out there for Satin Balls and GHDK on the internet, that it took a while to find the right one for me to make for Kiyo.  Haven't done the GHDK, but I will post my recipe of Satin Balls later if you would like too know what I use.  It's really working for Kiyo. She's almost 17lbs now with in 2wks on this regiment!  For the raw diet Kiyo is give a chicken drumstick at night(skin, meat, and bone), and she eats it with no problem.  In the morning she gets 1 cup of dry dog food with 2 satin balls.  The breeder suggest to use Eukanuba Active Performance.   Having some trouble getting Kiyo to eat the cup of dog food though....  Picky eater she is.  Overall, she is at her best now, much more active, and she is really happy.

Here are some pictures from the shows in January and February.  You can view more on my Flickr page.  Keep in mind, Kiyo was unwell from the grooming products that made her drop in weight.  All pictures taken by Trieu Tran from Lasting Fotos.

Happy New Years

Happy New Years Everyone!!!  Hope everyone is having a great start of the new year.  Kiyo and I are getting ready for our big show down in Southern California this coming weekend.  Also meeting up with Kiyo's breeder at the show too.  Very excited!!!  Well I'll be posting pics of the show when I get back.  Sorry, this picture was taken with my phone.  This is how Kiyo wanted to spend the holiday,  playing in the dirt. LOL
